مقابلة شيقة مع ديفيد ريكسون او البطة المطاطية اشهر اللاعبون في نطاقات الاي دي ان
ديفيد ريكسون
او كما يسمي نفسه البطة المطاطية عمره 46 عاما يقطن في مقاطعة كيجالي بويست يورك
شاير ببريطانيا ويعمل كمهندس مدني منفصل لكنه الان مرتبط برفيقة من جمهورية التشيك
يقول في البداية ان كل ما امتلكه من نطاقات هو ملك لشركة تشاينيز دومين

التي يشاركه فيها صديقته جين لكن ديفيد هو الذي يمتلك عصا القيادة
بدايتي مع نطاقات الاي دي ان بدأت عندما رأيت نطاق باللغة التركية علي موقع سيدو
وكان مكتوب الكود الذي يبدأ ب

سألت صديقي دومينجورو ماذا يعني هذا النطاق وبعدها بدأت التسجيل وايقنت ان الصين
ودول اسيا هي اجود اللغات للاستثمار كل ما نحتاجه هو الحروف بتلك اللغات لكنه كان
عمل مضني في ذلك الوقت فقد كان علي لزاما ان اقنع دومين سايت وهو موقع لتسجيل
النطاقات

بادخال محول الاكواد في الموقع وقد كنت اسجل نطاقات من قبل مع دومين سايت لكنه بعد
تلك الاضافات شعرت انه يقدم افضل الخدمات علي الانترنت في ذلك الوقت جين صديقتي
رجعت لحياتي مرة اخري بعد غياب 25 عاما وبسرعة نظمنا انفسنا واصبحنا شركاء وقد كانت
ملهمة عظيمة لي في ذلك الوقت واعتقدت انها الوحيدة التي تفهمني
بدأنا بسذاجة
في البداية واستخدمنا كثير من القواميس اونلاين وفي الاخر
استقرينا علي قاموسMDGB
لم يكن لدينا فكرة عن ماهو المتاح علي السطح فقد فاتنا قارب النطاقات بحوالي سنتين
وقد كانت فهم اللغات مهمة صعبة فبدأنا في تسجيل ما كنا نعتقد انه جيد في اللغة
الانجليزية وبدأت النطاقات التي لم تجدد تسقط وبدأنا دخول سوق لعبة النطاقات
الساقطة
وبسؤاله عن اول نطاق يسجله قال ان لم تخني الذاكرة فاعتقد انه نطاق صيني لاسم حيوان
بعد الصيني دخلنا سوق النطاقات العربية لانه كان الاكبر بعد الصين من حيث عدد
المتحدثين وفوجئنا بان النطاقات العربية من اهم النطاقات التي نملكها لكن السوق
العربي لم يتطور بالقدر الكافي بعد ولاننا لم نفهم العربية قمنا بتسجيل الحروف
المفردة وحصلنا عليها من موقع عجيب مثل

والحقيقة اننا اتجهنا للحروف المفردة لاننا لا نملك مهارات اللغة لكن في النهاية
اثبتت هذه النطاقات انها قيمة بالفعل وقد حصلنا علي كل الحروف باستثناء ثلاثة او
اربعة حتي الان سجلنا حوالي 3200 نطاق من الاي دي ان حسب اخر تعداد منهم 429
نطاق عربي بعد ان وضعنا حوالي 180 نطاق عربي علي قائمة الحذف وتلك المحذوفة اسماء
تقليدية جدا بنتائج بحث ضعيفة ومن الجائز ان نقوم بحذف اسم ما كان يجب ان نحذفه لكن
هذه لعبة النطاقات نسبة وتناسب والحقيقة ان تكلفة تسجيل النطاق لم تكن كبيرة حوالي
8 دولارات

كان مفيد جدا ايضا لنا واخيرا استخدمنا

لكننا تأخرنا كثيرا في استخدامه
وبصراحة لم تعنينا معني الاسماء بمقدار ما لها من نتائج بحث علي جوجل واوفرشيور
وتركنا المعاني لتظهر نفسها لاحقا فبعض الاسماء العربية شبيهة بالفارسية في الوقت
الحالي ليس لي طموح كبير لتسجيل مزيد من النطاقات العربية ومن الافضل ان اترك بعضهم
يذهب الي اخرين
السوق العربي اكثر او اقل خمولا في تلك اللحظة وقد استطاعت الموجة الاولي من
المستثمرين التقاط معظم المصطلحات الجيدة وفي انتظار السوق ان ينمو لكن هناك مازال
المئات او الالاف من المصطلحات الجيدة بالفعل لكن لن يعرفها غير اصحاب اللغة لكن في
اعتقادي ان اغلب النطاقات التي ستساوي ملايين الدولارات في المستقبل قد ذهبت بالفعل
دخول السوق حاليا يعني التقاط كثير من المصطلحات الثانوية التي سوف ايضا تعطي عائد
مجزي او شراء مصطلحات اولية قيمة من السوق فاعتقد انك تستطيع شراء اي اسم تريده في
مقابل عشرة الاف دولار وستسطيع علي الاقل مضاعفة هذا المبلغ بعد عدة سنوات
وانا نفسي علي استعداد علي التضحية ببعض الاسماء من اجل جعل السوق يتحرك لكن من غير
المتوقع ان اظل بالسوق في العام القادم علي الاقل كبائع للنطاقات
نصيحة اخيرة للداخلين الجدد في السوق انهم يستطيعوا ان يسجلوا اسماء المدن او
البلاد او شرائها فهي تظل قيمة جدا الي الابد فتخيل انك تمتلك

Civil/Structural Engineer by training. Divorced but with new partner Lenka from
Czech Republic.
Domains are owned by Chinese Domains Ltd, which is jointly owned with my partner
Jane, although I hold a controlling stake.
I witnessed a sale of Turkish IDN on SEDO which was given as the Punycode and
ask the Domainguru what it was. I quickly realised the real potential was China
and the rest of Asia and immediately realised that all you needed was the
characters and you could reg them. It was more laborous in those days because at
that time I had yet to convince Domainsite to incorporate the Punycode converter
into their site. I was already with Domainsite as even without this additional
functionality I felt the provided the best service on the web at that time. Jane
came back into my life after about a 25 year absence, and we quickly got
organised and became partners. She was a huge inspiration to me as at the time
she seemed to be the only one that was capable of understanding my vision.
We started off quite naively, using and online dictionary. We played around with
a few but quickly settled on MDGB. We had no idea of what was available as on
the surface of things we had missed the boat by about 2 years. It was difficult
to start with as we did not understand the language structures and we started
registering stuff that you would consider good in English. It was untill later
the we realised what was really out there, so much stuff was dropping you just
could not seem to pick it up quick enough. Later we got into Drops. Our first
Chinese from memory were animal names. Arabic was the next language we invested
in as it was the next biggest in terms of speakers for a language where we felt
IDN had a real relevancy. I think Arabic will yet prove to be one of our more
important portfolios but the market in Arabic domains has yet to develop.
Because of lack of understanding of Arabic we initially invested in Single
Isolated Arabic Forms and translations from Ajeeb. The latter was not such a
clever idea, as many of the translation were too classical and not suitable for
the internet age. The Isolated forms were bought primarily due to our lack of
language skills. These, however, I believe will eventually prove to be the most
valuable. We are about 3 letter short of the full set.
We own over 3200 at present. At last count we have 429 Arabic names, but we have
about 180 in the process of dropping. The drops are generally traditional forms
with low Google Scores. May well end up dropping some we should have kept, but
we play a percentages game. By registering incorrectly our initial registration
cost effectively rises from $8 to neare $12, still very manageable.
Google is a very good means of confirming common useage. Later Overture came
along with support for Unicode but we had already bought most of our name by
then. Frankly we didn't always worry about translations if we had good Google or
Overture, working on the principle that the meanings would become apparent
later. Some of Arabic could well be Farsi.
I have no real ambitions to own more Arabic names that we currently do infact it
might be nice to see a few go to a good home.
The market in Arabic IDNs is more or less dormant at the moment. The first wave
of investors have picked up most of the primary terms and are now waiting for
the market to develop. There are still hundreds of thousands of really good term
out there that only a true Arabic speaker could know, but most the of stuff that
is going to be worth 7 or even 8 figures in $US has already gone. Not that that
means the opportunities are not there. Exploiting the market now will require
registering larger numbers of sencondary terms that will still yeild very
substantial returns, or picking up good terms in the secondary market. I think
you could still get more or less what you want for around $10k, but by next year
these terms will be beyond the reach of all but the super rich. I myself might
be prepared to let a few really decent terms go to get the market moving, but by
next year I would not anticipated being in the market at all, at least not as a
seller......
.......IDN.IDN which are really only IDN.com will be the future of Asia. They
will be become as important if not sometimes more important than ASCII.com. The
potential value of these domains is unimaginable to most. That is why it has
been possible to obtain so many so cheapily.
For a new entrant into the market with local knowledge, my advice would be buy
City domains with the view to setting up online Directories of service. If you
have Cairo.com you can charge every business in Cairo for putting a link on your
website. OK, not all will subscibe, but those that do will benefit enourmously
from their advertising investment, for which they will renumerate you
handsomely. One such domain could garantee an income for life!
